A well-played Reba and rocking Possum highlight the first set and the second frame features lean-n-mean Tweezer that teases where they will take the song later in the month.

Let’s start by saying that there are no bad shows this month, only some that pale in comparison to their immediate peers but would likely be at the top of just about any tour in the band’s history. This is a good example of one that was overshadowed by rager the night before. Even the showcase Tweezer in the second set is often overlooked in favor of the version in Dayton that is a bit longer and more exploratory.
But taken in isolation, you have two well-constructed sets with good flow and good playing throughout. And that Tweezer is certainly a highlight emblematic of the energy that band was playing with in Fall 95.

I remember leaving Hershey the night before and crashing at my brothers house in NJ before heading to CT. My buddy and I were talking about CS Lewis books at some point on the ride. I only remember that because when we both looked at each other when they started Prince Caspian, and couldn’t believe it. This was the first of many instances where the band provided a musical theme to some coincidental moment that happened in my travels. It was also one of only 4 times that they’ve ever opened with Caspian which made it even cooler to me. It was also a short version with no jam, which made me think it was just for us (at least that’s what it seemed like on shrooms).
This show is overlooked because of all of the other heavy hitters in the same month. This was the one and only Faht I’ve ever seen, and I think it was the last time they played it. I thought the whole show was solid except for Fishman’s vocals which were pretty rough. Tweezer>A Day in the Life>Golgi, Reba, 2001, and Possum were the stand outs for me. The short Caspian was special just because of timing.
New Haven was cold as hell, but decorated for Christmas and looked spectacular. The folks in town were super friendly and seemed grateful to have a bunch of phans there. It was my first time there and I really liked the town. I didn’t return there until the band went back in 98.
